WEEE

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations require all separately collected WEEE to be treated in accordance with defined standards.

They also lay out recycling and recovery targets for each category of WEEE.

An Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) is a waste treatment site that has an environmental permit, or registered exemption for the refurbishment or treatment of WEEE.

Any ATF operator receiving WEEE directly from a designated collection facility, distributor or end-user under a contract with a producer compliance scheme can apply to become an Approved Authorised Treatment Facility (AATF).

Operators of AATFs can issue evidence notes for the treatment of WEEE or the re-use of whole appliances.

Mayer was selected by DEFRA to undertake a research project to establish a protocol for small mixed WEEE.

Ways we can help include:

  • establishing protocols for your own specific blend of WEEE that you process, or
  • registering your site as an AATF
